Furyondy: Horde approaches

Wealsun (VI) 592 - Village of Frestin

Lady Ursini departs with the Drow Egg-Stone in search of a Drow 'ally', following on Uthan's and Aeltrax's leads.

The rest of the heroes follow Telinyar's prophetic visions, the latest involving the village of Frestin where young Lord Cerbros Vesvakis, his mother Lady Rhyanon and the rest of the northern refugees have been relocated. They encounter the local Lord, Baron Eluard Evrys de Ferestin, and learn all fighting men of the realm have been called to war by the King. The Oriflamme of Furyondy, holy battle standards of the Kingdom, has been unfurled from the sacred vaults of Saint Roneus's Cathedral in Chendl: the highest of Saints of the land, High Roneus the Valorous, is calling all noblemen to war. Evrys departs with his men, explaining the King has vowed the enemy horde would be met once they have crossed the mighty Crystal River.

Young Lord Cerbros wishes to join the war, claiming though underage he could join as a flutist. He has been taught basics in music by Périn, the 10 year old Telinyar rescued at Sarrebourg.

Sir Léssilié and Lord Telinyar check in with the Swampaires, who have erected their makeshift tents along the small Doern river branch. The Frogwife Madame De Verre (see Chendl & Akeleor blog recap), tries to capture a large toad for dinner, only to find it transform into a tiny demon spying on the village.

The 2 heroes present, acting swiftly, kill it, but it emits a piercing screech before dying. Callot de la Coupe is sent running fast to warn the village while the 2 Lords investigate the immediate surroundings.
At Grime's house where the Vesvakis's are housed, Sir De Cervange and Sister Slainie receive the warning just in time. They intercede when the Demon Trozoraath attempts to kidnap young Lord Cerbros. Blessed Slainie invokes God's holy name and rebukes the fiend, forcing him to let go and fall back, retreating in flight, cursing and vowing to return with allies promptly as Cervange slays another of the tiny demonic spies.

Demon Trozoraath

The heroes only have a short time to prepare a defense and decide to do it at the Shrine of Elma, whom Slainie says is a particularly blessed place. Trozoraath returns as promised, wielding his dread great sword Ar'gaken, with a powerful ally, a Chimera, and 10 dog-sized demonic deformed vultures.

Demon Vultures

The clash that ensues is epic. The heroes come out victorious but Lady Rhyanon is infected by the chaos of the vulture's bites. In front of her child's eyes she mutates into a Demon Vrock.

She is put down and killed by De Cervange and Léssilié.
The sacred statue of Elma splits open with holy light, cleansing all but now broken.
A foreshadow of things to come.

The Eye of Glirek is also cleansed, reverting to the human eye it once was, and now a relic of faith.

Each present receives omens from Glirek, now inspired and returned to faith by Elma.
Sister Slainie receives it as a holy nun of the church,
Telinyar as a seer and mystic,
De Cervange as a holy warrior of faith,
and Léssilié as one wicked, with an impure, on the cusp of blasphemous, tongue.
